Natural Reserve
LAKE QURAN
Lake Quran is known for it’s bird watching which also doubles as a nature reserve. This area contains endangered species who are critically endangered and needed places to stay and call home. It’s located at the eastern south of Cairo. It is a protected by Egyptian law to protect important bird species.
SUSTAINABLE MATERIALS
Al-Fayoum cares so much about this environment that they even take into consideration what materials they’re using for houses and how much space it’s taking from it’s natural surroundings. A recent toursit stated: “A tiny house is much kinder to the environment than a commercial house,”, “Because the houses are so small (27, 16 and eight sqm), I could use natural materials like wood for the construction instead of cement, which makes its footprint per se lighter, especially since most of it is up-cycled.”
